Jeff Allen
In 2004, on behalf of the Child Growth Foundation, Jeff circumnavigated the four main Islands of Japan, a distance in excess of 5000 miles, the aim being to raise both funds and awareness for the C.G.F. The expedition took a total of 139 days of paddling, over a six-month period. In 2005 Jeff was a team member on the first successful British circumnavigation of South Georgia, considered by many kayakers to be the ultimate challenge to sea kayaking. The team set a world record by achieving this in a total of 13 days and 8 hours. This was done on behalf of Ty Hafon children’s hospice and Children in Crisis.
Harry Whelan
Harry is a keen paddler and professional kayak coach. Harry has solo circumnavigated the coast line of Ireland in 2000 and in 2005 with his team mates Phil Clegg and Barry Shaw circumnavigated the coast line of Britain in a record time of 80 days. Harry is a Senor Youth Worker for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The Exped Schools project was developed by Harry this has very successful in introducing young people to the exciting and healthy activity.
